Hot or Not Trends – Colored Jeans

Colored denim – specifically, jeans – are a huge trend for spring, and come in a variety of eye catching hues that real women are bravely donning. While this is a tricky trend to tackle, colored jeans are definitely wearable if you know how to style them appropriately.

Luckily, colored jeans are an easy way to incorporate this season’s brights into your wardrobe. You can pair your colorful denim with an equally bright top for a fun colorblock effect, or pair your jeans with a neutral blouse if you aren’t quite that daring. The cut of your jeans also matters – in general, a bootcut or cigarette style jean will be the most flattering. For footwear, stick with neutrals – heels are always a good option. If you prefer flats, find a metallic pair in a neutral color to really add some flair. Overall, the key to pulling off colored jeans is confidence – if you are confident with the way you look, it will definitely show!

Bottom Line:

HOT! Colored jeans may be tricky, but they add versatility and fun to your spring wardrobe. What do you think? Should colored jeans be embraced, or would you rather stick to your tried-and-true blue denim this season?

Hot or Not Trends – Asymmetrical Dresses

Dresses with asymmetrical hemlines are hugely popular for spring/summer 2012, and it’s easy to see why. While many of the runway looks featured asymmetrical dresses with long trains, this obviously isn’t practical for the everyday woman. Of course, if you’re the type of woman who defies the fashion “norms,” why not go for it?

If you’re not quite that adventurous, look for a dress in a vibrant, punchy color or print that features an asymmetrical hemline. Long or short, these dresses are sure to turn heads wherever you go. I especially love coral – this shade works beautifully this season and beyond. Of course, make sure to keep your accessories neutral to avoid competing with such a bright shade.

Bottom Line:

Asymmetrical dresses are definitely HOT. Do you agree with me, or do you think this trend is less of a fashion staple and more of a fashion mishap?

Hot or Not Trends – White Dresses

Forget the “little black dress.” This season, it’s all about the little WHITE dress, or LWD. From sheer, ethereal fabrics to opaque frocks; long sleeves, short sleeves, mini dresses or long and flowing gowns, white dresses are totally fab for spring.

No matter which style you choose, it’s important to take a few important considerations in mind. Make sure anything you don underneath your LWD is flesh-colored to avoid showing too many of your, um… assets. For accessories, keep it simple – less is more when it comes to a white dress, but don’t be afraid to add a cool pop of color like a bright orange belt or a neon statement ring. Finally, I love a pair of wedge or gladiator sandals and a sleek clutch to finish the look.

Bottom Line:

Hot, hot, hot! When the temperatures are warming up, busting out your little white dress is a fresh, modern look for spring and summer. Do you agree, or do you think a white frock is too timid for your tastes?

Hot or Not Trends – Puffer Jackets

For some reason that I simply cannot fathom, puffer jackets were a fashion staple on winter runways… but not in the way you might think.

While I can appreciate the warmth and practicality of a puffer jacket if you live in a snowy climate and can’t walk two feet without freezing to death, I fail to see how these jackets are a trend. When did puffers become “fashionable?” Runways are trying to showcase the puffer as the new, chic form of outerwear, but it’s a ridiculous concept. Why would a puffy, over-size jacket that makes you look like the Michelin man EVER be considered trendy? Take my advice – unless you’re engaging in snow sports or need to keep warm on a cold winter’s day, leave your puffer jacket where it belongs – in the closet!

Bottom Line:

Puffer jackets are a resounding NOT, at least when it comes to looking stylish. Do you agree with my assessment, or are you of the opinion that puffer jackets are the next big thing in fashion?

Hot or Not Trends – Lace Pumps

Lace is appearing on everything from blouses to handbags and everything in between, but one of the biggest trends this season seems to be lace pumps.

Be it sexy or demure, lace pumps can instantly transform any outfit into an appealing ensemble. The best thing about  lace pumps is that you can easily wear them during the day or evening, depending on what you pair them with. For night, pairing your lace pumps with the ubiquitous “little black dress” is a surefire way to rock the trend, while skinny jeans and a tunic top are perfect for day. Also, don’t be afraid to channel the vintage-inspired feel of lace pumps – you can easily rock them a 50′s or 60′s-style frock and other mod accessories.

Bottom Line:

Lace pumps are definitely HOT. What do you think? Are lace pumps a fashion-forward trendy statement or do you think they belong buried in the back of your closet?
